Social Housing Lettings (HomeChoice Bristol) – Have your say

Bristol City Council is asking for your views on who social housing is for and how we decide who lives where. We also want to hear about how our decisions affect the local community.

We are speaking to people, communities and organisations across the city before we come up with any options. A full public consultation will take place later in 2020.

You can complete the survey and find out more about how you can get involved at: www.bristol.gov.uk/lettingsreview

The survey closes on 20th March and we will take your views into account when we develop future options.

Extra Care Housing

Published: Thursday 5 December 2019

Extra care housing, sometimes known as assisted living, can be a great choice for people who are over the age of 55 and have care and support needs, to live independently in their own home.

Extra care housing schemes are usually made up of individual one bed or two bed flats designed around a community hub, with a range of facilities. This could include a restaurant, hairdresser, shop and an activity room.  A team that provides care and support is available 24 hours a day.

In March 2020 an extension of 62 flats to an existing scheme Waverley Gardens in Bishopsworth will open.  Some of these flats are available as shared ownership.  Please contact Waverley Gardens directly to find out more.

There are some flats to rent available in the two new schemes that opened this year: Haberfield House in Stockwood and Stoke Gifford Retirement Village on Coldharbour Lane in Stoke Gifford.

Visits can arranged directly with scheme and applications for rental flats are made via BCC Adult Care either online or by phone 0117 9222700.
