What are my chances of receiving an offer?

The following pages show how many different types of property Bristol City Council and our Housing Association partners own in each area of the city, how many of these became available in the twelve month period from 1 April 2009 to 31 March 2010, what band the successful applicant was in and the demand for the properties.

This information will enable you to compare your rehousing priority to that of the households who have already been rehoused in your preferred area, giving you an indication of the chances of you receiving an offer of housing.

Bristol City Council owns 28400 properties across the city, and for the period stated above, 2276 became available.  Our partner Housing Associations own 8159*, and, for the same period, 808** properties became available.

What is a direct offer?

When you look at the information for individual areas, you will see that some of them have details about direct offers underneath them.  A direct offer is where the landlord has offered a vacant property directly to the applicant, without the applicant having to bid for the property.  Direct offers are only made in certain circumstances.  For more information regarding direct offers, please see the HomeChoice Bristol Allocation Scheme which sets out how properties are allocated.  To view a copy, please click here.

What does “Average number of bids by property type” mean?

This tells you how many other people placed a bid for that property type, giving you an indication of the demand for the property.
