Advertising Properties

Bristol City Council and housing association properties are advertised each week, the advertising cycle starts at 00.01am Tuesday morning and runs until 11.59pm on Sunday night,   you can  register your interest in any of the properties advertised at any time during the cycle by placing a bid on that property. A 'bid' is the term used for expressing an interest in any of the advertised properties.

Bristol City Council and Housing association properties available for rent are advertised in the following ways:

  • Via   Property Search. on this website.
  • In Tuesday's edition of the Bristol Evening Post
  • In newsletters available from any of the Customer Service Points. For details of Customer Service Point opening times see how to contact us.

The property  advertisements include a photograph of the property and   indicate the number of bedrooms, location, rent, landlord and other relevant information  to help you decide which properties are right for you. Properties advertised on the Internet also have links to  information about the local area and facilities.

The advertisement also tells you if there are any  eligibility requirements that you must meet in order to be considered for the property. These may include age requirements, which bands can bid for the property and which bands will be given priority. If your bedroom entitlement is different from the number shown on the property advert  you will not normally be able to bid for that property.

Expressing Your Interest in a Property

To express an interest in a property you must tell us that you wish to be considered for it. You may only be considered for a property that is suitable for your family size. Click Step One - Registration for the maximum number of bedrooms that you are entitled to. In some circumstances it may be possible to apply for a smaller property than you are entitled to as long as this does not result in overcrowding.
You can express your interest or bid, as it is also known, in one of the following ways:

  • Online through our website. Login using your housing application number and the date of birth of the main applicant. Login/My account
  • By telephoning our  24hr automated bidding line on 0845 270 1382
  • By texting 07781 486 941
  • By using the self service point in any of the Customer Service Points. Our staff will be happy to show you how to do this.

You will be able to bid for a maximum of 3 properties during the advertising cycle. Bids will not be accepted after midnight on a Sunday. You will only be able to bid for a property that is suitable for your family size.
