Re-instatement of Advertising

Government advice states that people can now move home during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. This guidance provides important public health information to ensure that moving home, and activities including viewing properties, can happen safely.

You are strongly encouraged to read the guidance if you are considering moving home during this time.

When can I place bids?

We are slowly starting to advertise properties as and when they become available.

You can bid for accommodation when the next property advert cycle opens on Tuesday 9 June 2020. The usual advert cycles will continue to operate from Tuesday to Sunday.

Why aren’t there many properties advertised?

Initial government guidance advised against moving house, so during this time fewer properties have become empty, with less people moving.

Initially there will be more properties reserved for older people advertised; along with a limited amount of general needs properties, but we aim to be back to normal within the next three months.

This will be regularly reviewed and updated.

Will you be advertising all properties that became empty whilst HomeChoice was suspended?

Properties were let, in line with government advice at that time. We focused on essential activity which included:

  • Supporting victims of domestic abuse and people fleeing other forms of violence
  • Preventing severe overcrowding
  • Facilitating move-on from temporary accommodation
  • Facilitating discharge from hospital to free-up bed space for others requiring care
  • Supporting those living in unsafe accommodation, or without settled accommodation, which posed a risk to their health

Please check the website each week for suitable properties.
We thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
